Between sea and mountain, 14 kilometers from beaches, Tourrettes-sur-Loup is located, where, a century ago, violets chose to grow. Still today the cultivation of this delicate flower constitutes one of the main activities and the extent of production earned the village its title City of Violets. Settled on a rocky buttress with overhanging precipices, this medieval village, whose climate is ideal in all seasons, has reached us intact up to this day.

Every year, the season closes with the “Violet Festival”, which takes this year place on the weekend of February 25th. The streets of the village are animated from 9.30am onwards with typical local music and dancing. The village is covered in flowers and feels full of the joys of the beginning of spring.

A fortified site in the 11th century, with houses forming ramparts, Tourrettes possesses an original architectural richness linked around a half-moon central route.

Appreciated by film producers from 1925, Tourrettes became a meeting place for musicians, painters, writers and poets, and saw a creation revival in the fifties...
